A roller barrier is a safety barrier made of rotating cylindrical rollers mounted on posts. When a vehicle strikes it, the rollers spin to convert impact energy into rotational energy and steer the vehicle back along the barrier instead of letting it break through or vault over. SinoBarrier manufactures roller barrier systems for highways and for perimeter security, crash-tested to MASH TL4.
Two applications, two product families
- Rolling barrier guardrail — for expressways, tunnels and mountain roads, where the rotating rollers absorb energy and redirect vehicles on impact.
- Anti-climb roller barrier — for perimeter fences, checkpoints and restricted sites, where the freely spinning rollers stop a person from getting a grip to climb over.
How the roller redirects a vehicle
On impact, the rollers rotate and transfer a share of the kinetic energy into rotation, then steer the vehicle along the line of the barrier. The result is less deceleration than a rigid wall, less penetration than a cable barrier, and better containment on curves where a conventional beam would push the vehicle back into traffic.
Tested and documented
Our roller barrier systems are crash-tested to MASH TL3 / TL4 and supplied with full test documentation. Coating, roller diameter and post spacing are produced to your project specification.
