Middle East road programmes combine high design speeds, heavy truck traffic and an environment that attacks coatings — sustained heat, UV and wind-borne sand. The barrier has to hold its coating as well as its shape. SinoBarrier supplies guardrail and roller barrier systems into the region from our own factory in Shandong, China — shipped to 28+ countries on 555+ projects.
What we supply into the region
| Project type | System usually specified |
|---|---|
| Desert and intercity expressway | W-beam guardrail runs and median barriers |
| Bridge, interchange and gantry approach | Thrie-beam transitions and bridge end terminals |
| Mountain and wadi crossing | Rolling barrier where a fixed beam cannot absorb the impact |
| Industrial and logistics compound | Anti-climb roller barrier, posts and spacers |
Heat, UV and sand: what changes in the specification
- Coating. We galvanize to AASHTO M180 with a minimum 550 g/m² zinc coating. Where an owner calls for a heavier class or a duplex system, we quote the coating weight rather than describing the finish as “heavy duty”.
- Sand abrasion. Wind-borne sand wears a coating mechanically, so on exposed alignments the coating class is worth confirming with your engineer at tender stage rather than at delivery.
- UV. Where a PVC or painted finish is specified, the polymer grade is selected for UV exposure — the finish is a specification line, not a colour choice.
Standards and documentation
AASHTO M180 is the reference most often written into GCC road specifications, and we build to it as standard. EN 1317 documentation with CE marking is available for projects designed to European standards. Where a project needs manufacturer-side conformity documents for import — SABER registration for Saudi Arabia, for example — we supply the technical file your customs broker needs.
Delivery and paperwork
- Standard beam lengths of 3810 mm or 4130 mm, with posts, spacers, bolts and terminals loaded into the same container.
- Mill test certificates and coating-weight reports are issued per heat number, so the paperwork traces back to the steel.
- Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin are issued with the shipment.
- Production lead time is typically 15–25 days after drawing confirmation.
Questions we are asked before a tender
Can you supply to our consultant’s specification rather than your own? Yes — that is the normal case. Send the clause and the drawing and we confirm section, coating class and hole pattern against it.
Do you load under inspection? Loading is photographed, and container numbers and seals are recorded on the packing list.
Can you hold a delivery date across a staged programme? Yes, against a single order with agreed call-off dates.
